General Information
As you are no doubt aware there are many
arena constructing companies. It is important when making a decision on who to
use that you are actually comparing like for like quotations. Quotations vary
tremendously depending on the quantity and quality of the materials used, not
only on the surface but also beneath it. For example, we always use a minimum of
225 tonnes of clean stone, on a standard 20m x 40m arena sub-base.
The fencing of your arena can also vary dramatically. It all depends upon your
personal choice and budget. Also the warranty of the arena may also be reduced
if lesser quality and quantities of materials are used.
There are several suppliers of the silica equestrian sand covering the southern
half of the UK. Undoubtedly, the best silica equestrian sand comes from Surrey.
This can increase the quotation due to the haulage costs, however its benefits
in our opinion, are well worth it. The main benefit is the increased compaction,
this is due to its angular shape binding together, thus giving a firm base to
ride on and prevent too much mixing of the top surface material.
